Tuition Fees for 2026/27

The following information relates to fees for entry in Academic Year September 2026 and Calendar Year January 2027. Tuition fees for RAD Awards starting in 2026* will also be listed below.

Faculty of Education graduates who go on to study for a postgraduate award delivered by the RAD or further study of an RAD award can benefit from a discount in tuition fees. Tuition fees are invoiced in instalments for each programme as appropriate.

  We are committed to providing support to students who wish to develop their skills and knowledge through study and we offer a limited number of awards, bursaries and hardship funds for specific purposes. The application forms and submission deadlines can be found under Financing your studies.

• Concessionary entry

  Concessionary entry

  A fee may be payable for programmes where applicants can submit a concessionary entry task. Further information on concessionary entry and associated costs can be found at How to Apply.

  UK students: £8,700 per academic year, plus £135 registration fee on enrolment.
  International students: £13,000 per academic year, plus £135 registration fee on enrolment.
  A fee of £65 is payable if the applicant is invited to audition on-site or by video submission.

  Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance*

  This programme is currently under review for Summer 2026 start and fees will be updated in due course.

  Professional Dancers’ Graduate Teaching Diploma

  UK: £6,400 per programme, plus £135 registration fee on enrolment.
  Australia: $12,300, plus £135 registration fee on enrolment.
  A fee of £65 is payable if the applicant is invited to interview.

• Financing your Studies

  Financing your Studies

  Which ever programme of study you choose, you will need to plan for the financial side of your studies. Here, we try to indicate which fees and expenses you are likely to expect.

  Even if you receive maintenance support from the UK government or a sponsor, the first payment to you may not be in time for you to cover accommodation or travel costs. For any type of study, it may be useful to prepare a budget and start saving well ahead of time.

  Before the start of your programme, our finance department or, if you are a Certificate in Dance Teaching (Ballet) student, your national RAD office, will send you an invoice for the tuition fees by email. The terms and conditions for your programme of study are below. It is your responsibility to make sure your fees and all expenses are paid in full and on time.

  For students to be eligible for funding from Student Finance England, they must be studying an eligible course at a provider registered with the OfS. This is the new independent regulator for higher education in England, and all higher education providers need to register with them for their students to be eligible for student support. The OfS started publishing providers on its Register from July 2018 and the RAD was accepted onto the Register in January 2019.

  Should you apply for student loans from the UK government, please ensure that you send the Registry the relevant confirmation ahead of your first day of study. You will find further information and advice on the availability and application process for student loans on the government’s student finance pages.

  We also have a limited number of bursaries and scholarships available to students, one of which is the Iris Truscott Scholarship, which is awarded to a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies graduate (until 2024)/Certificate in Dance Teaching (Ballet) (from 2026) and Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance student in support and encouragement of their continued professional development as ballet teachers.

  If someone else sponsors you and pays all or part of the tuition fee for you, please let us know they need a separate invoice. You are responsible for payment in case your sponsor does not pay your tuition fee.

  Graduates of the Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies may apply for a place on BA (Hons) Dance Education and enter the programme at FHEQ Level 5. BADE tuition fees will be charged for the relevant levels of study. For FHEQ Level 5, the part-time tuition fee for the academic year will be charged, i.e. 50% of the full-time fee for the academic year and level. For FHEQ Level 6, the full tuition fee will be charged either for full-time or part-time study. Before the end of Semester 2 of studying FHEQ Level 5, students should inform the Registry whether they would like to study FHEQ Level 6 full-time or part-time so that the appropriate tuition fee amount can be invoiced.

• Assessment Fees

  If you are to re-take an assessment, a re-sit fee per failed module applies. It is the same fee per module for all programmes of study and is not normally refundable. Resit examination fees are £220.  This is irrespective of how many individual assessment elements are re-taken.

  The re-sit fee for re-taking a failed module with attendance is based on the individual cost of the module. For details, please contact the Registry. Please refer to the Attendance Policy for information on re-sitting with or without attendance.

  Students on all programmes normally pay the re-sit fee in pounds sterling to RAD headquarters in London. Distance-learning students in Germany enrolled on the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies or Certificate in Dance Teaching (Ballet)  pay the re-sit fee in Euros to RAD Germany directly.

  FoE graduates who go on to study for a postgraduate award delivered by the RAD or further study of an RAD award benefit from a 10% reduction in tuition fees. This discount is available for students who start their programme of study on or after 1 August 2018 and will be applied to their tuition fees for the full duration of the programme. • Undergraduate Loans (Home Students)

  For students to be eligible for SLC funding, they must be studying on a designated course. Courses at higher education providers are designated each year by the Department for Education.

  Students in England and Wales starting a postgraduate Master’s course from 1 August 2018 can apply now for a Postgraduate Master’s Loan.

  The quickest and easiest way to apply is online.

• Electronic Signatures

  Electronic Signatures

  English and Welsh-domiciled students applying online for a Postgraduate Master’s Loan from academic year 2021/22 will now submit their Online Terms and Conditions (OTC) via their online account with an Electronic Signature (E-Signature).

  E-Signatures remove the need for students to send forms in the post and reduce the time it takes to process and assess students’ funding applications.

• Continuing Students

  Continuing Students

  Students only need to apply once for the Postgraduate Master’s Loan as the application and funding is for the whole of their programme. Students who will be entering a second, third or fourth year of study will receive a letter from the Student Loans Company (SLC) confirming their payments for academic year 2026/27.

  If you are from outside the UK and none of the above applies to you, you will be eligible for International fee status. Note that this fee status can apply to UK passport holders who are living abroad, although some exceptions apply.
